This project was to draft a retrospective ‘shadow’ appropriate assessments for a number of historic or ‘legacy’ SSSI consents to inform a decision about their future statutory modification. The work involved the development of a master template and subsequent population of the templates for the sites affected.
This project helped to fulfil Natural England’s contribution to Defra’s Gamebird Review to review historic consents that may have permitted the release of non-native gamebirds at what is today recognised as potentially harmful levels and which can continue to do so.
Our work is recognised as being influential in our professional spheres and in setting standards of good practice.

DTA Ecology is delighted to announce that, having withdrawn the UK HRA Handbook as a result of legislative reform following Brexit, we have recently been commissioned to adapt the UK Handbook for use in the Republic of Ireland.
